We were introduced to the illustrator Martin French in my Digital Illustration II class and I totally fell in love with the free-flowing sort of style he has and had to play with that myself.

Loathing-severous Snape

This was my first serious go at doing such a realistic on the computer and my first time in Painter. I'm a huge Snape fan. I tried to work the greens from the background into the skintones and hair because the little screencap I used as reference had a different color (blue-grey I think) background on it.
I'm not exaclty new to this whole digital painting thing...but I'm not really good at it yet either >.> So tell me, am I wasting my time? lol

whew! My first full-body, no reference character illustration in painter! I really like how it turned out. Very low-contrasty. Kinda playing with styles if you can tell. But again, I like it anyway.
Very inspired by the works of Alex Ross.
